Slightly broken dreams, widgets and green beer!
Hey'all... wow, the last 24 hours or so have been such a roller coaster ride.... I didn't finish a research proposal by friday and so i worked on it over the weekend... I didn't really do it to any degree of |-|4r|)C0rë at all, but i guess i'm decently pleased with my weekend. Went to College Royal with Phoutty from my section. Everyone else was either out, asleep or indifferent to the idea of $1 milkshakes!! how could your refuse? It was a entirely beautiful day though, as it has been for the last few days... haha... anyways, this was sunday. The rest of sunday went quite well, for the most part. I didn't start work until late, because I was busy making yummy thai curry!! *mmmm* it's SO spicy though!! whew! But work started slightly late, and I didn't get really finish until rather late, even though I had an interview for my exchange the next day at 10:50 the next day. I hated that 22 page abomination with a fiery vengeance. i really don't understand why I do it to myself (go to sleep so late)... like as if it's my subconscious trying to sabotage my efforts to do anything important. Onto Monday... So I ended up being slightly late for my interview, which is NEVER a good sign. And besides that my interview went just ok. I didn't really feel like it went terribly well, which is another result of not being prepared enough. Gah! *shouts obscenties* And the second question they asked was whether I would be interested in different exchange locations, as apparently Massey University did not send out any exchange pamphlets this year. Or so they said. Anyways, so I'm not going to New Zealand at any rate at this point, which is a bit disappointing, but I'll survive that I suppose. I'm just not really sure about the other locations. I think that would be really awesome, but not nearly as cool as the one I had wanted. *sigh* and next was my chemiistry lab book. This was another fiasco, since I hadn't had the time to properly write the labs up. So the lab books were supposed to be picked up at 10:30, and when I started working on it, it was almost 11:30... still no sign of Lab books being picked up. I think I finished around 1:30... and the lazy lab TAs(and thank god for their laziness) had YET to pick up the lab book... So in the end, it was all good! Any the final task on my agenda was to hand in my dreaded proposal. It went surprisingly successful... I went to bind it, and as I went to go hand it in at his office, I saw my TA sitting in the sunshine in Branion Plaza, and I was able to hand it to him as just as he was on the way back to his office. I took it without any questions, which I am not sure is a good thing or not. Since it's a weekend late, I don't know what's going to happen with the late policy and everything. My TA is a really laid-back and cool guy, so maybe I'll get lucky! The act of handing it in was a turning point in the day. After that, I had the chance to enjoy and breathe the fresh spring air and sunshine. I went to my ENVS*2010 class, where we listened to a cool presentation. It was on creativity in science, and how it's not fostered enough in our society. The speaker asked us to raise our hands if we thought we were creative, and many people were reluctant, even though we value creativity in society. In a way, it is a need to fit into social conformity, as well as reducing a pressure to "perform", in terms of achievments. I think that much of us in humanity is afraid of what we can do, in a way. We do not lend enough of our faith in others, so that they feel they are believed in enough to succeed. And as a result, the incredible creativity in all 6.2 billion of the people on earth is subdued. In a way, it was a good class, in that it kind of put things in perspective, and was also a bit of an inspiration. And for some reason, that class makes me really hyper afterwards... I am always all psyched up to run around and frolick... Weird.. Maybe it's something about the strange smells in the room, since our class takes place in the Meat Science Building. After this, I went to the Keg Anyways, it was a good end to a long and winding day. Now I'm just typing away, and thinking of the many things that I need to do in the near future, and after that I'm off to catch some shut eye. I've set my alarm for 2:30am, to tell me to go to bed... haha!! an alarm clock to tell me to go to bed... the irony... So good night!
