argh... silly blogger!
I had started writing this nice post about my day, but I mucked up somewhere, and I lost the post. But anyways, it was a good day. :) Went to commercial drive to deju vu hair studio for my dreadlock "hair consultation", which turned out to be then repeating what they said on the phone the day before. But at least I know what the place is like now. It'll probably bite another $150-200 into my bank account, which is quickly running dry with the purchases that I've made in the past little while. But since it's been my little dream for the past two years, I figured I'd give it a shot. It'd be nice to have a friend do it for me and much cheaper, but methinks it'll turn out better if i get them professionally done. The guy that owns the place has one of those melodious deep 'rasta' voices that are cool, and he was wearing a pastel yellow t-shirt with a matching hat. Then I went to hang out with sheryl which was good fun. And she joined my family and some family friends for dinner, and jolly time was had. Sheryl wasn't so keen on the lobster sashimi though, as its whisker thingys were twitching as it lay in pieces on the plate. kinda gruesome. Oh, then I went to the Book Warehouse, and I swear that place will be the end of me. I bought 3 books there... set me back another $50... fuuuckk... i need to start watching my spending, even though one of them is a present, or so I try to justify. But I think they were good purchases. From the writer of Ishmael, Daniel Quinn, is the book The Man Who Grew Young. It's a graphic novel, that has an interesting premise. Y'all know about the Big Bang, right? Well there's also its reverse process, the Big Crunch, and the book explores the idea of what would happen as the universe started to contract. In a sense, entropy would start to reverse itself, and there would be increasing order in the world, we would be living our lives going backwards in time... people are born in coffins, and as the grow younger, they get married, and then find the love of their life, and then go back to school, and grow into a baby, and eventually go into their mother's womb to die. Really strange plot. I'd like to see if it can be pulled off. I also got David Suzuki's "The Sacred Balance", which should prove to be an enlightening book. And the present-book shall remain undisclosed at this point in time. heh. So I'll be a happy boy for the next while. I swear, I really want to work in a bookstore, I think that'd be neato... I've got a question for you all. I always see all these amazing books in stores and on shelves, and in people's hands, and I want to read them all, but I know I'll never have the time. Do any of you wish that you could just suddenly wake up one day, and realize that you've read every book in the world? Like I know that so much of the experience of reading is the excitement of turning the page to see what happens, but there are just so many things I know I'll never actually get around to reading. So so frustrating. Maybe that's the point of retiring and growing old, huh? lol Oh yeah, learned a new chinese idiom today. "No smell rice essence". Wish I could explain it in here, but I had enough trouble just trying to understand what it meant in the first place. But no matter. The phrase is funny enough as it is. Lol. And before I end this by saying how many hours until I see Katie again (I know, you're all gagging from sappiness at this point, but I'm sure you'd feel the same if it's been three long months since you last laid your eyes on your love), I present to you. the square watermelon: Ooh ooh ~91 hours until I see katie again! *gushes* sqee! baiiii bye! | Music: Jack Johnson- Times Like These |
